January’s transfer news and rumours for Chelsea (By M Omar).

When Eden Hazard tweeted he would be signing for ‘The European Champions’ he didn’t imagine in his wildest nightmares that they wouldn’t even be progressing through group stages never mind retaining their title. ‘Welcome to the Europa League’ could be heard from football fans across the country and as the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo has hardly been justified what is exactly the problem at Chelsea that they are unable to recreate that form last season which earned them respect which is being quickly lost.

Radamel Falcoa:
The Colombian forward has set alight La Liga with 35 goals in 46 appearances since joining Athletico Madrid in 2011 and having scored a hat trick against Chelsea in the Uefa Super Cup, The Blues are more than informed of the qualities he can bring to the Premier League.
Falcoa’s former team mate joined Axel Witsel in the biggest transfer coups of the summer with Zenit St.Petersburg spending a record £64m to sign the duo. From the beginning the Brazilian’s time in Russia always felt like an unlikely adventure. A recent dispute with Zenit manager Luciano Spalletti add that to the fact that Hulk has only 2 goals in 8 games for Russian club , an exit seems to be inevitable. But with FIFA regulations not allowing a player to play for two clubs in a season, Chelsea will have to wait until June 2013 to acquire the forward.

The Brazilian wonderkid being spoke about as the newest prodigy of Pele has so far delivered on all fronts. A blistering pace and dribbling which would put most world class defenders at un ease the Santos forward has it all but with the on-going argument that most South Americans have trouble adapting to European football , are Chelsea ready to gamble ?

Marco Reus:
Reus signed a five year contract at Borussia Dortmund in January so is unlikely to leave the Bundesliga Champions. The 23 year old forward has the ability to play out wide and is regarded as one of the hottest properties in European football.
